Current Status February 16, 2022
The health and safety of our attendees, sponsors and staff is our top priority to ensure we provide a safe environment for everyone. Please check this page periodically leading up to the summit for updates, as well as the B.C. Provincial Government’s COVID-19 information site.
health and safety
BCNET is monitoring developments that may impact the BCNET Summit attendees and be guided by the B.C. Provincial Health Services Authority. We are working closely with the Sheraton Wall Centre and Vancouver Coastal Health to provide comprehensive safety measures which are updated in accordance with the current public health orders.
On February 15, the B.C. Provincial Government announced that they are lifting the capacity restrictions (effective February 16). With an abundance of caution, we are keeping our commitment to limiting the attendance to 50% of the Wall Centre’s capacity.
Here are a few the safety measures that we can tell you about now and what you can expect at our in-person event:
- Limit 6 participants per table in seated settings
- Onsite staffing to monitor exhibitor and session capacity
- Onsite staffing to monitor face masks of all attendees
- Provide face masks for attendees that require one
- Provide additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the venue
Lots of Space to Spread out at 50% Capacity
The Sheraton Wall Centre is a large facility that occupies an entire city block, so there is plenty of space to spread out. At 50% capacity the Summit can accommodate 450 attendees, which is half of our usual event attendance. We are working with the Wall Centre to design the event so that there is lots of space in the session rooms for attendees to practise social distancing.
Monitor Your Own Health
If you or someone you’ve had close contact with has recently tested positive for COVID-19, or hasn’t been feeling well, please refrain from attending the in-person event.
Attendees are reminded that their behaviour prior to and during the event is important for the safety of the participants at the event. Please make every effort to follow public health guidance prior to and during the event, even outside of the venue for the safety of all participants.
