Dr. Elizabeth Dunn

Dr. Elizabeth Dunn is a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Dunn conducts experimental research on self-knowledge and happiness, with a current focus on how mobile technology can both support and undermine human well-being. She is the co-author of Happy Money: The Science of Happier Spending (Simon & Schuster) with Dr. Michael Norton. Her work has appeared in top journals, with three papers published in Science, and she has given talks at PopTech! and TED. She was selected as one of the “rising stars” in academia by the Chronicle of Higher Education in 2004 and was an honoree for the 2007 Mind Gym Academic Prize for pioneering work in positive psychology. In 2010, she received a New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, as well as UBC’s Robert E. Knox Master Teacher Award. Her research has been featured in hundreds of media outlets around the world, including The New York Times, The Globe and Mail, The London Times, Maclean’s, Time, and CNN. Dr. Dunn is also an avid surfer and skier.

Dr. Adam Shoalts

Dr. Adam Shoalts is a Professional adventurer Adam Shoalts has been called “one of the greatest explorers in Canada’s history” (Canadian Geographic), “Canada’s Indiana Jones,” (The Toronto Star), and a “rare breed of woodsman” (The National Post). His career has included mapping rivers, leading expeditions for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Mountain Equipment Co-op, numerous archaeological digs, photographing elusive and rare wildlife, building birch bark canoes, and completing a nearly 4,000 km solo journey across Canada’s Arctic. He inspires audiences with his insights on personal leadership, resilience and risk management.

Tanya mccready

Twenty-two years ago Tanya and her husband Hank, quit their jobs in engineering and agriculture and left their home in the city to move to Ontario's wilderness. With their beloved huskies, they started a business, family and lifestyle. Their company Winterdance Dogsled Tours now welcomes over 3,000 guests every winter to the unique experience of dogsledding. Hank & the huskies have competed in six – 1,000 mile races in Alaska and the Yukon.  They have also co-written two books –– their latest book, Journey of 1,000 Miles has become an international best seller. Tanya tells her stories and lessons from the adventures with their dogs around leadership, teamwork and overcoming challenges to audiences around the world. They share their lives with their four children, five cats and a large husky family.
